The National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) exists to promote ethical business practices, compliance with the FCRA, equal employment opportunity and state and international consumer protection laws relating to the background screening profession. NAPBS provides educational programs aimed at empowering members to better serve their clients, while adhering to standards of excellence in the background screening profession.
NAPBS gives screening companies a collective voice in meeting our mission of legal compliance, ethical business practices, consumer protection, education and legislative/regulatory advocacy.
Employers and Property Managers rely upon background screens to make informed hiring and residency decisions and to help mitigate the risk of workplace violence, employee theft and negligent hiring lawsuits and unsafe residential neighborhoods. NAPBS is comprised of professional Consumer Reporting Agencies (CRAs) that assist employers in meeting their screening objectives and requirements.
